Adventures in Felting

Here is my second attempt at a felted purse. The first one wasn't bad, but it's little and a little flimsy looking. For this one, I used the same pattern, just doubled the yarn and used bigger needles, and then added some embroidery. I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

Oyster Festival

This weekend was the Oyster Festival on the Plaza. We went down early on Saturday morning to beat the crowds. One of our favorite restaurants, Kyoto, was doing the festival for the first time and we wanted to be sure to get some of their oysters before they sold out. We ran into a few friends, but not as many as usual this year. Still it was fun. Not super sunny, but we still enjoyed ourselves.

Alissa and Maddie finishing off the beef on a stick from Kyoto.

Oysters with butter and garlic from Fortuna Women's Club.

Me and Jeff and our big bellies.

They had face painting and wax hands and flowers for the kiddos. Maddie didn't want her face painted but had fun making her rose. Donnie wanted me to get my belly painted but in the end I decided against it :)

Wildflowers

Here's some pictures I took on the trail down to College Cove yesterday.

Necklaces for Casey

On Sunday, after I got back from the Artisan's Market, my friend Casey came over so we could work on the necklaces for her bride's maids. Not typically something I would have made on my own, not really my style, but we were both pleased with how they turned out.

My New Favorite Artist

I went to the Trinidad Artisans Market on Sunday to check it out and see if it would be a possibility for me to sell some of my stuff there. Of course the jewelry market was already saturated, so it's not really an option for me. But I found this artist there, his name if Jeff Stanley. I fell in love with his paintings. I think it was the prego belly, but he let me pick out a picture of one of his prints. It's one of my most prized posessions at the moment.

Palette Scarf

Another one of my creations I've made while on bed rest.

May 30th

I spent my birthday with the fam this year, no party, just us. We went to the river for the day.

This is one of the pictures that Mom took.

And here we are floating down the river.

After the river, we returned to the gloomy fog for grilled shrimp and veggies and lemon cake all done by Jordan. It was the best birthday cake ever!

Memorial Day

Monday of Memorial Weekend it was absolutely gorgeous here in Trinidad and College Cove was calling my name. I thought that with it being a holiday that the place would be pretty crowded, but I have to say there were the fewest people there that I had ever seen.

I pretty much had the North Cove to myself.

Donnie wanted to do some geo-caching. First he went off to find the one at the Blow Hole but came back awhile later with the same little trinket that he had left with.

Towards the Blow Hole.

And he's off again.

Then he decided to find another one near by. Instead of using the trail, he just went straight for it. Said it was quite the adventure. Unfortunately, no new prize to show for all of his scrapes and cuts from bush whacking it. Oh well, maybe better luck next time.
